UKETA Learning ("UKETA", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and courses (the "Platform"), how we use and share it, how we protect it, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you register, we collect your first and last name, email address, phone number, password (stored securely as a hash, never in plain text), and, for coaches/instructors and partners, additional details such as your professional background and areas of expertise.
Payment information. When you purchase a course, our payment partner Pesapal collects the mobile money or card details needed to process your transaction. We receive and store confirmation of payment (amount, date, order reference, and status), but we never receive or store your full card number, card PIN, or mobile money PIN.
Learning activity. We record your course enrollments, lesson progress, video-watch completion, quiz attempts and scores, notes you write within lessons, and certificates you earn, so we can show you accurate progress and issue certificates.
Communications. If you contact us through the Contact page, email, or WhatsApp, we keep a record of that correspondence so we can respond and provide ongoing support.
Technical information. Like most websites, we automatically collect some technical data, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited, through standard web server logs and cookies, to keep the Platform secure and understand how it's used.
Affiliate and referral data. If you join our affiliate program or arrive via a referral link, we track referral codes, click activity, and resulting signups/purchases so commissions can be calculated accurately.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
• Create and manage your account and provide access to purchased courses;
• Process payments and send order confirmations and receipts;
• Track your learning progress and issue accredited certificates;
• Respond to support requests and communicate important account or service updates;
• Calculate and pay instructor earnings and affiliate commissions;
• Improve our courses, content, and Platform based on how they're actually used;
• Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues;
• Comply with legal obligations, such as tax and financial record-keeping.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. How We Share Your Information
We share personal information only where necessary to operate the Platform:
Payment processing. Pesapal processes your payment directly and securely; we share only what's needed to initiate and confirm a transaction (such as your name, email, phone number, and order amount).
Coaches/instructors. If you enroll in a course, the instructor teaching that course can see your name, enrollment, and progress within their course, so they can support your learning, but not your payment or contact details beyond what's needed for that purpose.
Service providers. We may use trusted third-party providers for functions like email delivery, hosting, and analytics, who are only permitted to use your data to provide that service to us.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of UKETA Learning, our users, or the public.
Business transfers. If UKETA Learning is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy or a comparable one.
4. Payments
All payments are processed through our payment partner, Pesapal, using Mobile Money or debit/credit cards. Pesapal maintains its own security and compliance standards for handling payment data. UKETA Learning does not store your full card number, card security code, or mobile money PIN on our servers at any time.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
• Keep you signed in between visits;
• Remember your cart, wishlist, and site preferences;
• Track referral links for our affiliate program;
• Understand overall usage patterns so we can improve the Platform.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; note that some parts of the Platform (like staying logged in) may not work correctly if cookies are disabled.
6. Data Retention
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide our services, including maintaining a permanent record of certificates you've earned (since they remain verifiable indefinitely). We may retain certain records longer where required for legal, tax, or dispute-resolution purposes. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymize personal information that is no longer needed, except where retention is required by law.
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted password storage, secure connections (HTTPS), and access controls limiting who can view sensitive data. No online platform can guarantee absolute security, but we work continuously to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, or loss.
8. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
• Access the personal information we hold about you;
• Correct inaccurate or outdated information (most account details can be updated directly in "My Profile");
• Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal/record-keeping exceptions;
• Object to or restrict certain uses of your information;
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format.

9. Children's Privacy
UKETA Learning's courses are intended for adults and older students pursuing career and professional development. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 without appropriate parental or guardian consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without such consent, please contact us so we can remove it.
10. International Users
UKETA Learning is based in Uganda and primarily serves learners across Uganda and East Africa, though the Platform is accessible globally. If you access the Platform from outside Uganda, your information may be processed in Uganda or in the countries where our service providers operate, under the protections described in this policy.
11. Third-Party Links
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites (such as social media or partner sites). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those external sites; we encourage you to review their own privacy policies.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
